Game overview

A rolling fortress that eats the map

Wanderburg scene of a wooden rolling keep, sheep, bicycle knights, and a larger fortress firing cannonballs

Wanderburg is a single-player isometric roguelike from Berlin cooperative studio Randwerk, published by Sidekick Publishing. You drive a castle on wheels across a procedural countryside, swallow sheep, fields, and smaller forts, then spend the gold on captains, modules, crew, and artifacts. It plays like a survivor-like with real vehicle handling: four ability slots, timed actives, and bosses large enough to flatten you. A Steam demo already covers the grasslands loop. Early Access is scheduled for 8 September 2026 with extra biomes and vehicles. Start with the getting started guide, then check controls, the demo walkthrough, and the module tier list.

Quick start

Five practical steps before you roll into the grasslands.

  1. 1

    Learn the driving loop

Wanderburg is vehicle combat, not a click-to-win survivor. Read controls so WASD, mouse move, boost, and the four ability slots feel natural before a boss steamroller arrives.

  2. 2

    Survive the first demo run

The getting started page and the demo walkthrough cover consuming sheep, picking your first module, and leaving gold on the table when a bigger castle appears.

  3. 3

    Spend gold on the shop

Gold from failed and finished runs unlocks captains, modules, crew, and artifacts. Use the captains and modules pages so you do not buy the first shiny name you see.

  4. 4

Pick a build, not a pile

Demo players keep rediscovering the same strong pairs: ram plus boost, fire mage, vampire sustain. Compare them on best builds and the module tier list.

  5. 5

    Look past the grasslands

Early Access on 8 September 2026 adds more biomes and vehicles. Skim biomes and the Early Access page so the desert peek is not a surprise.
