Module Tier List

This module tier list is a demo-era opinion piece. It uses names you can find on modules and results you can watch in public runs. It will look silly if desert walking forts punish ram lanes in September. That is fine. We would rather be honest than eternal.

Compare captains on the captain tier list and full recipes on best builds. If you still need driving school, go to controls.

S-tier: ram, boost, fire mage

Ram is the demo’s personality. Creators call it broken, then prove it by deleting bosses that were supposed to be a wall. It demands an angle and a second press. Without boost or dash, it is a bumper you use once.

Boost is the unsexy S. Size taxes turning. Nitro pays the tax. Health-stacking videos eventually admit they needed boost as the fourth module. If your draft never offers it, a dash or teleporter is the cousin.

Fire mage (fire wizard) is the lazy oven. Stand near clumps, let burn work, stack spread artifacts. Failure mode: ramming the target out of the circle. If you cannot stand still relative to a boss, ram is more honest.

A-tier: mortar, side cannons, teleporter

Mortar is the anti-pride pick. High arc, safer kiting, sometimes fire-tagged in videos. It will not give you a steamroller thumbnail and it will give you a living keep.

Side cannons are the louder archer. They scale with cannon artifacts and cannon captains. They also make incoming cannonballs scarier if you took the glass contract.

Teleporter is high skill. Comments mention auto-shot fans when you weave. It is S in the right hands and a vacuum snack in the wrong ones.

B-tier: mines, barracks, extra archers

Mines need chasers. Open grassland prey often dies before it reaches the bumper. Against vacuum and roller chases, mines earn their slot. Otherwise they are litter.

Barracks swarm is a second food chain. Troops fight, block, and die. They shine when you already understand how to grow your castle and they clutter vacuum mouths. Fun, not free.

Extra archers are the honest B. They always work. They rarely end a highlight. Upgrade them when the draft refuses to play along.

C-tier: stun hammer, shield-stomp without a melee plan, trailer-only toys

Stun hammer and mace-and-shield kits are real in dedicated videos and awkward as random add-ons. If you did not come to melee, do not grab a stomp “because it is rare.”

Spider legs, extra frames, and desert locomotion are not graded until they are on a public client. See biomes. A trailer is not a tier.

Draft rules that beat letters

  1. Upgrade the button you already press.
  2. Pair ram with movement.
  3. Pair fire with standing near the problem.
  4. Pair mines with being hunted.
  5. Leave a slot for escape before vanity.

Bosses do not care that your mortar is A-tier if you are smaller. Read how to beat bosses.

The vampire-heavy video in the middle of this page is not a mortar textbook. It is a reminder that modules only look strong inside a captain sentence. Steal the pairing, not the letter.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Wanderburg questions.

Why is ram S-tier if I keep missing?

The module is strong. Your angle might not be. Practise on sheep, then see controls.

Should I always skip mines?

No. Skip them when nothing chases you. Take them when a roller is already in the rear-view.

Will the desert change this list?

Likely. Walking forts and sand were shown as a different food chain. Recheck after 8 September 2026.

Where is the full module dictionary?

On the modules page. This page only ranks what we can source.
